?"Q. What is the difference between "language" and  "a language

4 comments:

  1. "Language" is a term that linguists use to refer to the universal principles that all languages follow. It is a generic (not "genetic") term which describes the object of our study--How does the study of all languages improve our understanding of each language? "A language" is a single instantiation of "Language"--like English, French, Comanche, etc.
